K to 12 Program
Study hard and finish studies to get the job we want they say. But do we really get the job we want? Does K to 12 really help the student be prepared? There is Grade 11 and Grade 12, when completed, the student will able to "complete" basic education just like what DepEd said. Thus, being more prepared whether it may be Academics, Technical-Vocational-Livelihood, Sports or Arts and Design.
Senior High School (SHS) which include Grade 11 and Grade 12 will go through a core curriculum under a track of their choice. They will be more prepared to the future and they will be equipped learners with better skills. SHS is wherein by the time the student graduates, they now have the standard knowledge and skills for College. The student will now be mind ready for the things he/she will do.
For those who have reached the K to 12 Program, the students who did finish Grade 11 and Grade 12, they are a Grade 10 completer. High school graduate is up to grade 12. According to the law now, every student must finish Grade 11 ad Grade 12. We can see that K to 12 added more years meaning that parents will have to give more money for food and transportation. And the students who are not really serious about studying might be a increase of the drop out rate because of the two more years. Many of the students today start at a age that does not have the requirement such as Grade 1 at the age of six. Its very young and by the time they finish Elementary school and High School, their age will not be able to reach the legal employable age of 18.Also, wile students are stuck in Grades 11 and 12, this means that there will be no freshmen for two years. HEI's will have a financial disaster by then.
We know that every family has a dream of having their child to be able to graduate. Parents give their hard work and effort, blood and sweat for their children. But there came K to 12, more years, more study, and of course more stress. But like they say, Never give up, Never surrender. Even at a hard time, we must still go and don't stop.
